The competition closes at midnight on Sunday 31 May and the winner will be picked on Monday 1 June.

Scottish Road Safety Week runs from the 4 - 10 May 2015.

The week aims to raise awareness of road safety across the country with a specific focus on keeping children safe, whether they are walking, cycling, on public transport or in the car.

Trams are much quieter than other vehicles so being aware when around the route is crucial. You may not be able to hear a tram approach until it’s very close. Make sure you look as well as listen for traffic.

Changes will be made to Edinburgh Trams' Conditions of Carriage with effect from Friday 1 May 2015.

Most significantly:

  • Cold food can now be consumed on board Edinburgh Trams.
  • Hot and cold drinks in sealed containers can now be consumed on board (includes coffee cups with lids).

Tom Norris, Director and General Manager of Edinburgh Trams, said:

During the month of May, cyclists will be able to bring their bikes on board Edinburgh Trams as part of a cycle access trial.

Folded and unfolded pedal bikes will be allowed on board during off peak hours as part of the trial which has been supported by The City of Edinburgh Council and city cycling groups.

Transport Convener, Councillor Lesley Hinds, said:

We have listened to comments from relevant groups and individuals in setting up the off-peak trial, which was originally agreed before the trams were up and running.

Blind and visually impaired tram and bus passengers will now be able to navigate more independently around Edinburgh thanks to new features introduced to the Transport for Edinburgh mobile app.

Councillor Lesley Hinds, Transport Convener and Chair of Transport for Edinburgh, said:

We are committed to providing accessible travel for everyone in Edinburgh, and this app will further enable passengers to make the most of the services on offer.

When I sat down with passenger focus earlier this month to discuss our first ever passenger satisfaction survey I was anxious and excited in equal measure. This survey is a crucial benchmark for Edinburgh Trams and gives us a excellent way of comparing our passenger satisfaction with our peers and competitors. The key headline, we scored 95% means, a great deal for our organisation. For 2014, it puts us fantastically close to the top of transport operators in the UK across tram, rail and bus. I am delighted, but not surprised about this result.

The Edinburgh Trams service has received a 95% overall satisfaction rating from its passengers in a major independent survey. 70% of those surveyed said they were ‘very satisfied’ -  the joint highest percentage of tram operators surveyed.

In the research by Passenger Focus, some of the top factors driving positive reviews were:
