One of Edinburgh’s trams has been specially wrapped for Christmas – not with paper and bows but with high profile messaging aimed at promoting the city’s key events.
The tram will officially be brought into service this weekend heralding the Festive season and upcoming Hogmanay celebrations. It will be used extensively in the future, encouraging people to ‘decide to glide’ to the major flagship events Edinburgh is famous for.
Edinburgh Trams General Manager, Lea Harrison said:
“Our trams offer a fantastic opportunity to promote attractions such as the Festivals, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Royal Highland Show and we’re planning to work with organisers next year to promote the events at the same time as emphasising that our services offer a perfect transport option.
“Wrapped trams are common in other cities with light rail networks but this is the first time we’ve used the approach in Edinburgh. With the tram travelling through the heart of the city all day, every day it's a great chance to give our prestige events a further boost.”
Lea explained the tram wrap was not a commercial arrangement. “It's our way of promoting the best of what Edinburgh has to offer,” he said.
