Edinburgh’s integrated transport company Transport for Edinburgh has teamed up with the Edinburgh Capitals ice hockey outfit, based at Murrayfield for the 2014/2015 season.

The team, which started out in 1998, have a growing local support, developing youth programme and regularly attract 1000 people to their home games at Murrayfield Ice Rink.   They play in the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League and compete in more than sixty games a season.

As the City returns to normal and everyone is back at work, college and university, Transport of Edinburgh is aware that there will be an increase in customers looking to buy and renew Ridacards.

To help everyone to get the chance to sort their travel needs, the Waverley Bridge Travelshop will operate the following extended opening hours from 15-18 September.

Last week marked the end of the Transport for Edinburgh #TakeMeThere campaign in partnership with Edinburgh Airport promoting travel to the airport by Edinrbugh Trams and Lothian Buses Airlink service.

The campaign reached in excess of 220,000 people across Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams websites and social media channels with #TakeMeThere leaflets on bus and tram as well as Transport for Edinburgh Travelshops and Park & Rides.

Edinburgh Trams has now been running for 100 days welcoming 1.5 million passengers on board to date.

Patronage figures and revenue levels are in line with predictions and importantly, with the business model which was developed before operations began.

Transport for Edinburgh customers will have a new way of paying for their bus and tram journeys from 1 September, through a new pre-paid smartcard - 'citysmart'.

Unlike a Ridacard, the citysmart card has no personal identification on it making it easy to share amongst flat mates, friends, family or colleagues.

The card, which can store up to 50 adult single journeys for Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Tram is simple to use - just hold it against the bus ticket machine or the tram stop card validator to use.

This week, Transport for Edinburgh has been giving away £25 worth of m-tickets every day in the lead up to the sale of its one millionth ticket.

M-tickets are easy to buy and use.  Simply download the app which is available for android or iOS and validate on the tram stop validators before boarding the tram.

Today, the one millionth ticket was sold to Emily Allwright making her the winner of not only £25 worth of m-tickets but also a brand new iPhone 5c!
