Edinburgh Trams has teamed up with Forth 1 this January to banish the post-Christmas blues.

This Friday afternoon (18 January) – for the first time ever – Boogie, Arlene and Producer Marty from the hugely popular Boogie in the Morning number 1 breakfast show will be hosting a special, one off party on one of Edinburgh’s trams.

To celebrate, the presenters will be handing out a variety of goodies including two chances to get your hands on a six-month, unlimited tram travel card.

Figures released today (7 January) show over 7.3 million customer journeys were recorded in 2018. That’s an increase of 10 per cent on 2017.

Edinburgh Trams has been able to increase capacity throughout the year by introducing additional trams as “queue buster” services during morning and evening peaks seeing trams running from every three minutes.

Free late-night trams are set for a return for a third year as part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations.

In previous years thousands of revellers took advantage of the offer that saw services running through the night and into New Year’s Day.

Edinburgh Rugby take on Glasgow Warriors this Saturday (22 December) at BT Murrayfield in the Guinness PRO 14 in the second leg of the 1872 Cup.

Kick-off is at 5.15pm and Edinburgh Trams is set to make sure you miss none of the action.

With frequent services direct to Murrayfield Stadium tram stop from locations such as Ingliston Park & Ride, Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park, Haymarket and St Andrew Square (for Waverley), the tram offers an attractive way for supporters to get to the match.

We’ll be running trams from every seven minutes every day except Christmas Day.

Once again, we’ll be bringing you our FREE Hogmanay night services throughout the early hours on 1 January. What’s more, we’ll now be running from every 15 minutes. See below for more details.

Monday 24 December

Edinburgh Trams and Gyle Shopping Centre have joined forces this Christmas to welcome a very special passenger to the city’s tram network for the first time.

For one day only, on Monday 3 December, Father Christmas will take a ride on a special ‘Gyle Santa Express’ - just before rushing back to the North Pole to get ready for festive season.

Whilst on board, Santa will be singing Christmas carols, playing games and taking present requests from children ready for the big day. Children will also receive a gift directly from Santa himself. 

The Autumn Internationals are now upon us and rugby fans can look forward to another series of epic encounters between northern and southern hemisphere teams.

The award-winning operator of Edinburgh’s tramway has underlined its support for the UK’s military community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.  

Recognising the value that serving Regulars, Reservists, veterans and their families contribute to society, Edinburgh Trams has pledged to employ former military personnel and their spouses and partners wherever possible.  

Heart of Midlothian are set to take on Celtic this Sunday (28 October) at BT Murrayfield in the Betfred Cup semi-final. Kick-off is a 1.30pm and Edinburgh Trams can get you there.

On Wednesday evening the Global Light Rail Awards celebrated the industry’s innovation and excellence in our vibrant and fast-moving sector.

An expert panel of judges evaluated entries, deliberating over a range of projects that cover customer experience, safety and technical initiatives, engineering and operational excellence, and system design.

Edinburgh Trams was recognised in all four of the categories we were shortlisted in.
