The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society and Parabola, in association with Edinburgh Trams, today unveiled a specially wrapped Fringe tram as part of a new partnership that aims to promote culture across the city of Edinburgh and beyond.

Thousands of festival goers will be heading into Edinburgh this month to enjoy the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival events.

On Sunday (15 July), more than 800 costumed performers will take to the streets for the seventh Edinburgh Festival Carnival which delivers a dazzling spectacle under the castle. The carnival includes music, dance, costumes, circus, acrobats and puppetry from all over the world.

Visitors to this year’s Edinburgh International Festival won’t miss a single minute of their favourite shows thanks to the city’s trams.

Services will run through the night each Saturday of the festival (August 3 - 28), meaning visitors can enjoy the entertainment safe in the knowledge they can still reach their accommodation with ease.

Edinburgh Trams is on track to post record weekend ridership figures for customers travelling to the Royal Highland Show, thanks to some glorious weather and the increasing popularity of Scotland’s largest celebration of farming, food and rural life.

Over the weekend, thousands of visitors to the Royal Highland Show took advantage of increased tram frequency and dedicated event customer service staff which allowed customers to glide past the traffic.

A winning combination of rising customer numbers, 99 per cent reliability and industry-leading customer service has seen Edinburgh Trams exceed all financial expectations, recording a pre-tax operating profit of £1.6m.

Results published today (22 June) show revenue grew by 24 per cent in 2017, and the total number of customer journeys was up by 19 per cent to 6.6 million.

Celebrating its 178th year, The Royal Highland Show is one of Scotland's most iconic events, showcasing the very best of farming food and rural life. In Edinburgh, on Sunday (10 June), thousands are expected to walk together in a public procession, forming a living portrait of women in the 21st century and a visual expression of equality, strength and cultural representation.

Edinburgh Trams will extend services beyond midnight when the Rolling Stones bring their ‘No Filter’ show to BT Murrayfield Stadium this Saturday (9 June).

Services will run from every three minutes until after midnight from Murrayfield Stadium to accommodate more than 50,000 fans who are expected to attend.
