We’ve given a new lease of life to the former tam mock-up which was used during our project phase, by turning it into a special Information Lounge for our customers.

Now proudly situated on the plaza at Edinburgh Airport, it has become a popular point of interest for our customers. The Information Lounge offers information on onward travel, iPads, maps, ticket sales, waiting area and even free Wi-Fi.

We’ve also teamed up with Edinburgh Airport to use the lounge as a waiting area for customers who require special assistance to complete their journey by air.

Last night saw Edinburgh Trams win the Most Improved System Award at the 11th annual Global Light Rail Awards.

The glittering award ceremony, held in London, helped celebrate innovation and excellence within the light rail sector.

Our tram system was shortlisted for two awards and after evaluation from an independent panel of expert judges we were awarded with the Most Improved System award. We also received the “Highly Commended” recognition in the Best Customer Initiative category.

Lea Harrison, General Manager for Edinburgh Trams said:

Edinburgh Trams has been presented with a special plaque to mark its membership to The Institute of Customer Services.

Founded in 1996, The Institute of Customer Services is the independent, professional body for customer service and works to help members improve their customer’s experience and their own business performance.

As a member, Edinburgh Trams will benefit from having access to the organisation’s research, training and knowledge sharing platforms to help the continued development of customer services throughout the company.

To help mark National Customer Service Week (October 3 – 7), Edinburgh Trams is planning a number of activities, giveaways and an iPad Mini competition as a thank you to customers.

The five-day celebration is an opportunity to raise awareness of customer service and the vital role it plays in businesses across the UK.

Throughout the week our customer service team will be sharing the love by treating lucky customers to breakfast and even some special Edinburgh Tram love heart sweets at selected tram stops.

Edinburgh Trams is delighted to announce that once again we will be supporting the Streets Ahead Young Drivers event.

2016 will be the event’s sixth year and every state and independent school in Edinburgh has been invited to Edinburgh's premier rock venue, The Corn Exchange.

In 2011, 17 to 25-year-olds accounted for nearly a quarter of all road casualties in Edinburgh, with young men being the most likely to commit driving offences. New drivers are most at risk in their first year of driving.

Edinburgh Trams can get you to the heart of the action when the BT Murrayfiled Stadium plays host to the Royal Bank of Scotland Scottish Rugby Varsity match between Edinburgh University and St Andrews University this Saturday (September 24).

With a fast, frequent and direct service to the entrance of the BT Murrayfield stadium from all our stops including Edinburgh Airport, Ingliston Park & Ride, Haymarket and St Andrew Square (for Waverley train station), Edinburgh Trams provides a quick and hassle-free way of getting to the match.

Customers making a return journey on Edinburgh Trams no longer need to buy two single tickets.

Following customer feedback, a new City Zone Return Ticket was launched in April and is already proving extremely popular.

Priced at £3.20 for adults or £1.60 for under 16s, the return ticket means that customers don’t have to pay cash at the ticket machine for the second leg of their journey.
