Some of the biggest names in pop will be taking to the stage at Edinburgh Castle from this weekend, and the tram is standing by to make sure fans don’t miss out on seeing their idols.

As part of celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of the release of their debut album, Wet Wet Wet will kick off the first of three concerts at the Castle on Saturday (July 15). The following Tuesday (July 18), Olly Murs will perform there as part of his UK summer tour.

Thousands of festival goers will be heading into Edinburgh this month to enjoy the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival events.

On Sunday (July 16), more than 800 costumed performers will take to the streets and the city’s trams offer a great way to reach the heart of the celebrations in and around Princes Street

Additional services and rising passenger numbers have helped Edinburgh Trams return an operating profit well ahead of schedule.

Results published today (Thursday, 29 June) reveal the company’s financial performance is not just on track, but is exceeding targets with the latest accounts recording a pre-tax profit of £252,000.

The City of Edinburgh Council’s original business model for the tram network predicted the first positive returns would arrive in 2018 and forecasted a pre-tax loss of £170,000 for the year ending December 2016.

The first pledge in Scotland to end hate crime on public transport has been launched today (Tuesday 27 June) by the City of Edinburgh Council and transport partners.

The ‘Charter for Public Transport’ aims to provide ‘hate free’ travel and partners Edinburgh Trams, ScotRail, Police Scotland, British Transport Police and First Scotland East came together in Haymarket station to make their pledge.

The coveted endorsement recognises consistently outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor, where eight out of ten contributors rate the tramway as either excellent or very good.

This latest accolade follows hot on the heels of a near-perfect 99 per cent customer satisfaction score from the respected Transport Focus organisation, which ranked Edinburgh Trams as the No.1 transport operator in the UK.

With the Royal Highland Show getting underway tomorrow (Thursday, June 22nd) and running through until Sunday evening, visitors are being urged to ‘jump’ on a tram to take the strain off of the roads.

The show’s south entrance is just a short 10-minute walk from the Ingliston Park & Ride tram stop, and signs have been put in place this week to help guide visitors along the quickest route.

Edinburgh has been scored as the UK’s number one transport operator for customer satisfaction, an independent passenger survey has revealed.

With an outstanding 99 per cent rating, Edinburgh Trams outshone the performance of other tram, train, bus and ferry operators across the country and was a full six points above the industry average.

The results of a major, annual passenger survey undertaken by the nationally respected Transport Focus organisation were revealed today (Wednesday, 14 June). 

Edinburgh Trams is set to extend its services beyond midnight when Robbie Williams brings his ‘Heavy Entertainment Show’ to BT Murrayfield Stadium on Friday 9 June.

Services will run from every 5 minutes until after 12am from Murrayfield Stadium to accommodate more than 50,000 fans who are expected to attend.

Doors open at 5pm and concert goers can make their way to the stadium on Edinburgh Trams which will be serving stops including Edinburgh Airport, Ingliston Park & Ride, Edinburgh Gateway, Haymarket and St Andrew Square (for Waverley).

Royal Highland Show & Edinburgh Trams take the country to the city with a Clydesdale wrapped tram.

Over 200,000 people will flock to the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston in June (22nd – 25th) for the best of farming, food and rural life.

Arguably, Scotland’s biggest outdoor event has joined forces with Edinburgh Tram to create a joint ticket to include travel and entry to the show.

With just a short walk to the showground, it is hoped that visitors will make the journey by tram with stewards on hand to ensure people know the way.
