To celebrate the opening of the Transport for Edinburgh Travelshop at Haymarket, the company are giving away a years FREE travel on Edinburgh Trams and Lothian Buses.

Along with the Travelshops in Hanover Street, Waverley Bridge and Jarnac Court in Dalkeith, you can pick up timetables, buy tickets and get help with your Edinburgh Trams and Lothian Buses journeys at the newest Travelshop in Clifton Terrace.

Bus and tram passengers in Edinburgh will be the first in Scotland to access real-time service information in Google Maps. From 4th January the partnership between Transport for Edinburgh and Google will help travellers to plan their journeys more effectively and get live updates.

Google Maps will know where all buses and trams are on the network at any time, allowing it to show expected times of arrival and any service delays, and the information will be incorporated into Google Maps' journey planning functions.

Transport for Edinburgh will open the doors on a new west end Travelshop in the New Year.

The Travelshop in Clifton Terrrace will open to the public on 5 January.

Transport for Edinburgh has launched the first phase of a pioneering trial to allow mobility scooters to travel on trams.

The pilot scheme is a first in Scotland and will run in two parts; firstly inviting potential candidates to sign up to the scheme by applying for a permit, secondly inviting successful applicants to take their mobility vehicles on board.

Three of the most senior positions in the Scottish transport sector have been filled, following the recruitment of a Transport for Edinburgh Chief Executive, a Managing Director of Lothian Buses and a General Manager for Edinburgh Trams.

George Lowder MBE has been appointed Chief Executive of Transport for Edinburgh, Richard Hall has secured the Managing Director role at Lothian Buses and Lea Harrison will be General Manager at Edinburgh Trams.

Newly released figures show that tram patronage has increased by 12% when compared to this time last year and the projected total of 5.1 million passengers for the whole of 2015 means that the service continues to outperform targets set in the business model.

Edinburgh Trams has entered into temporary agreement with Stagecoach buses to help alleviate the problems currently being experienced by commuters.  From Thursday 10 December Stagecoach will divert their services between Fife and Edinburgh to Ingliston Park & Ride to facilitate transfers to and from Edinburgh Airport.

Stagecoach customers can connect to and from Edinburgh Trams services without additional cost, though the tram company will be reimbursed.
