We’ll be shutting a section of the tram network for 72 hours in September so that the network can undergo essential engineering work as part of our programme of planned renewals. We understand this will cause disruption to our customers and would like to apologise in advance for the inconvenience caused.

Following normal service on Friday 26 September, trams will not run between Picardy Place and Haymarket to make way for the replacement of track points at Shandwick Place.

Edinburgh Trams has enjoyed its busiest month ever, with passenger journeys reaching new heights during a packed August of festivals and concerts.

The city’s multi award-winning tramway recorded its highest monthly patronage numbers, recording almost 1.5m customer journeys thanks to the return of Edinburgh’s world-famous festival season and a series of major music events.

Tune up your air guitars and comb out your best head-banging locks – AC/DC bring the POWER UP Tour to Edinburgh next week!

As always, we’ll be providing our own electrically powered trams (DC, in case you were wondering) to help fans get to and from the concerts, with extra trams out on the network before and after the Thursday night show.

Plan your travel in advance

We’ll expect the network to be very busy, so please make sure you leave plenty of time for travel before the show starts.
