Following a record-breaking weekend when Taylor Swift took to the stage in Edinburgh, the city’s tram network is looking forward to another busy weekend ahead.
Scotland’s biggest celebration of rural life will take place at the Royal Highland Centre from tomorrow (Thursday, 20 June), while Pride and Armed Forces parades will head through the city centre on Saturday, 22 June.
With a seven-minute service frequency throughout the day between Edinburgh Airport and Newhaven, the city’s acclaimed tram system is ready to provide quick and easy access to these popular events. Here is what’s happening this week as well as the closest tram stops:

Royal Highland Centre

The Royal Highland Show is the highlight of the agricultural calendar, where attendees can enjoy a taste of Scotland’s best rural produce and help celebrate its agricultural traditions. With the four-day event showcasing over 800 trade exhibitions and 2,000 livestock competitors entering about 900 competitions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. What’s more, this year Farmer’s Bash will present the Royal Highland Hoolie, a lineup of acts that are some of Scotland’s and Ireland’s liveliest musicians.
The Ingliston Park & Ride tram stop is just about a 15-minute walk from the South Entrance, with the last tram service departing towards Newhaven at 2300 on the days when Hoolie is on (Fri, Sat).

Pride Edinburgh is the longest-running free celebration of the LGBTQIA+ in Scotland. Based on feedback from previous years, the event aims to develop a sense of community by becoming a point of reference and promoter of diversity in the city and beyond. From the Parliament, the march will then go to Canongate, High Street, George IV Bridge, Bristo Place, Lothian Street, Potterrow, Crichton Street, Charles Street and finish at The Pride Edinburgh Festival Village in the EUSA Complex.
Anyone travelling to and from town for Pride can take advantage of the trams’ popular ‘Adult Day Tripper’ ticket which offers unlimited travel within the City Zone for just £4.50. Further details can be found here.
City of Edinburgh Armed Forces Day Event

This event will celebrate the Armed Forces in Edinburgh, a parade of Veterans and Royal British Legion Scotland & Associations Standards led by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland along George Street towards St Andrew Square. Those in attendance will be addressed there by the Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh and representatives of the Armed Forces in Scotland. A programme of entertainment and refreshments will be provided for Veterans and their families. Several charity stalls and displays will also be there to offer advice and assistance.
On the day, armed services veterans, serving members of the Army, Air Force, and Navy will be offered free tram travel between the airport and Newhaven. For this, they will have to show their military ID or wear their uniform.
