Scotland’s biggest celebration of the best of food, farming and rural life returns to Edinburgh from the 19-22 June this year, and as always, we’ll be on hand to support, with extra trams running all day to the nearby Ingliston Park & Ride tram stop to help visitors get to and from the Royal Highland Show.

Some fluffy faces popped down to the Gogarburn depot for a visit before the show – and while we won’t be sending many trams out with a Heilan Coo on board, keep your eyes peeled for the specially wrapped tram, which is gliding around the city now!

Services throughout the weekend will run from every seven minutes between Edinburgh Airport and Newhaven, and the Ingliston Park & Ride tram stop is just a short walk from the Royal Highland Centre, with tram staff on hand to direct visitors to the Show.

A free shuttle bus will also link the Park & Ride to the east gate of the Royal Highland Centre – further information about transport options can be found here.

Sarah Singh, Edinburgh Trams’ Head of Service Delivery, said,

“The Royal Highland Show is a highlight of our calendar – and we’ll be busy during all four days of the Show to ensure that customers can get to and from the event quickly and safely.”

You can buy your tram tickets directly from the Royal Highland Show’s website when you buy your tickets for the Show by selecting the Public Transport tab, and adding it directly to your booking. If you’re bringing the whole herd, try our Family Day Tripper ticket, which allows unlimited travel for two adults and three children between Ingliston Park & Ride and Newhaven, available from the Edinburgh Ticket website.

Alternatively, you can also Tap on and Tap off trams using a contactless card or device in order to pay for your single adult ticket. Plus, if you use exactly the same card or device, your travel will be capped at the daily rate as you travel throughout the day.
