Sold-out tram trips with Father Christmas on board have given parents and their children the chance to kick off the festive season in style.
What’s more, all the proceeds from Gyle Santa Express have been donated to a very worthy cause.
Edinburgh Trams’ charity of the year, Breast Friends and Family, provides support for people who are currently fighting breast cancer, while also raising awareness on the disease and further details can be found here.
Founder and Trustee of Breast Friends and Family Hazel Orr commented:
Breast Friends and Family are delighted to have been chosen as Edinburgh Trams Charity of the Year and have the opportunity to invite breast cancer patients, their families and most of all their children, on the Santa Tram. A fabulous treat when the families are going through so much, a chance to escape reality and indulge in the magic of Christmas.
Edinburgh Trams’ Assistant Marketing Manager Nicola Mearns commented:
We were thrilled to welcome Santa back onboard again this year and hope that everyone who travelled with us enjoyed a magical experience.
With the support and generosity of our customers, as well as Gyle Shopping Centre, we are now able to provide a real boost for a charity that is making a huge difference to individual patients while they undertake cancer treatment.
Filled with laughter and squeals of delight, Gyle Santa Express ran for two consecutive days and proved popular with children who received a goodie bag and selection box from the big man in the red suit himself.
Customers can also visit Father Christmas at Gyle Shopping Centre’s grotto and further details can be found here.
