As Edinburgh prepares for the festive season, the city’s tram operator is joining forces with Gyle Shopping Centre to give families the chance to embark on a magical journey in the run-up to Christmas!
To help customers get into a festive mood, Edinburgh Trams is set to welcome Father Christmas aboard a special tram on two consecutive days in early December.
Running from Gyle Centre to St Andrew Square tram stops, Gyle Santa Express will be filled with laughter and squeals of delight, with children set to receive a goodie bag and selection box from the man in the big red suit himself.
Edinburgh Trams’ Managing Director Lea Harrison commented:
We always want to bring the festive spirit to our network and there’s no better way to do it than by inviting Santa to ride with us.
We’re looking forward to welcoming children onboard for these very special trips which will also raise money for a very worthy cause.

We’re delighted to be partnering again with Edinburgh Trams for Gyle Santa Express and so pleased it’s back in the calendar this year – it provides an excellent festive experience for families while promoting our own Grotto in the centre, which highlights to shoppers just how easy it is to get to Gyle by tram.
Gyle Santa Express tickets are now sold out, with all proceeds being donated to Edinburgh Trams’ Charity of the Year, Breast Friends & Family.
Tickets must be downloaded onto a smart device or printed out to show the operator’s friendly staff at Gyle Centre tram stop.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is available at Gyle Centre car park.

Can I bring a buggy?
You can bring buggies; however, to allow extra space on the tram we ask that these be collapsed.
How do I get back to my starting destination after the event?
Your ticket also entitles you to one return journey back to Gyle Centre on any in-service tram. Simply show your ticket to the Ticketing Service Assistants on board.
Where do I go to board the Gyle Santa Express?
Please board the tram at the Gyle Centre tram stop located at EH12 9ED.
Will my child receive a present from Santa?
Each child will receive a goodie bag and a selection box from Santa. If you wish to receive a present from Santa, please visit him at his Grotto inside Gyle Shopping Centre.
