Edinburgh Trams has picked up an award for ‘Excellence in Travel Information & Marketing’ at the prestigious Scottish Transport Awards.
The awards ceremony brings together the transport community to recognise and celebrate industry achievements across Scotland. The awards are supported by the Scottish Government and Transport Scotland.
The operator of the city’s tramway was awarded the top accolade for its commitment to driving its patronage at Edinburgh Airport and enhancing the customer experience. Edinburgh Trams demonstrated how a successful digital and offline marketing campaign had helped increase patronage at the capital’s airport by almost 60 per cent in only three years. Furthermore, the popularity of the tramway was supported by partnerships with major airlines and travel comparison websites.
Amy Witherspoon, Assistant Marketing Manager at Edinburgh Trams added:
“Trams are a fairly recent choice for the air traveller so it was important we established ourselves both within the airport terminal and online as an attractive transport choice. We’ve supported that campaign with our own staff who are on hand to help customers with any question they may have about our wonderful city.”
Edinburgh Trams recently celebrated its fifth birthday and another year of continued growth in 2018 as overall patronage increased by 10 per cent with customer journeys swelling to over 7.3 million.
With industry leading levels of customer satisfaction, reliability and punctuality, Edinburgh Trams continue to support the City of Edinburgh Council on delivering Trams to Newhaven.
