Ahead of an extremely busy few weeks in the city, Edinburgh Trams is reminding customers that it is not possible to carry bikes during the festival season.

Due to limited space on board trams, restrictions apply that prevent bikes being taken on the trams throughout August, and further information about the operator’s Conditions of Carriage can be found here.

Sarah Singh, Edinburgh Trams’ Head of Service Delivery, commented:

To ensure the safety and comfort of our customers during one of the busiest times of the year, we want to ask both local residents and tourists not to try to board the trams with a bicycle.

We also ask customers to treat our colleagues with respect when enforcing the rules, which are for the safety and wellbeing of everyone on board the tram. While there may be available space at their time of boarding, it is likely the tram will get busier further along the route, which is why this restriction is in place.

Customers are encouraged to make use of cycle parking facilities across the tram network, including Ingliston Park & Ride, Edinburgh Park Station, the city centre, Leith and Ocean Terminal.
