With the busy summer season fast approaching, we would like to remind customers about the conditions of carriage regarding bikes on board trams.

Generally, up to two bicycles can be carried on trams free of charge during off-peak times at the discretion of our Ticketing Services Assistants (TSAs). Cyclists looking to board the tram with their bicycles should enter at the centre section of the tram and must take guidance from our on-board staff whilst remaining with their bicycles at all times. Please note e-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on our services at any time.

Restrictions will apply on peak services, which run Monday to Friday, 07:30-09:30 and 16:00-18:30. Cyclists should not attempt to board during these hours.

We also discourage bikes on trams during the busy Festival period throughout the month of August, or any pre-publicised events, such as when there are concerts on at Murrayfield Stadium, where trams are significantly busier.

We enforce these rules every year to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers. Even if there does appear to be space when you attempt to board, trams will get significantly busier as they travel through the city centre so please do not try to enter.

Bicycle parking can be found near tram stops across the network, including Ingliston Park & Ride, Edinburgh Park Station, the city centre and in Leith.
