We're expecting May to be a big month for us, and between the start of the summer concerts at Murrayfield and the launch of our brand-new Tap on, Tap off service, we're very excited that it's finally here!

Edinburgh really feels like it's ramping up towards the summer, now - if you're looking for things to do in the city this month, here's our list of recommendations.

Edinburgh Seafood Festival
St James Quarter – 3-5 May

The Edinburgh Seafood Festival returns to the St James Quarter this month – seafood connoisseurs can expect to experience live cooking demonstrations, intimate supper clubs and exclusive dishes at sites across the Quarter. Head to the Picardy Place or St Andrew Square tram stops, and follow your nose! (we assume...)

Edinburgh Rugby
3 May v Bath, 16 May v Ulster

The boys at Edinburgh Rugby are having quite the run at the moment – catch them in the semi-finals of the EPCR Challenge Cup against Bath on the 3 May, and then again in the final game of the regular season on the 16 May against Ulster. Hive Stadium is just a few minutes walk from Murrayfield tram stop.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical
Until Sat 14 June

Picardy Place Is feeling distinctly spectacular spectacular these days, as Moulin Rouge! The Musical begins its first ever world tour in Edinburgh. Experience the classic love story, surrounded by the glitz, grandeur and glory of the Moulin Rouge Edinburgh Playhouse.

Tradfest
2-12 May

Edinburgh’s celebration of Traditional Scottish music returns in May, with shows across the city, in venues like The Queen’s Hall, Traverse Theatre and The Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Tramhaus
Sneaky Pete’s, 12 May

Ok look, we wouldn’t normally include too many gigs in these listings – but the best-named band we’ve ever seen are playing at Sneaky Pete’s this month, so it made the cut! Described as a, “live-wire postpunk sensation from Rotterdam,” we might just have to check this one out ourselves...

Usher Hall

The Usher Hall has their usual busy and varied programme, with shows from the RSNO, former Haas F1 team principal (and Drive to Survive legend) Gunther Steiner, and indie rockers Wet Leg, as well as a date from Gary Barlow at the end of the month, just two days before Robbie is in town – can anyone say Take That Reunion??

The Usher Hall is just a few minutes’ walk from our West End stop, so Gary if you're reading this, you can pop right along to Murrayfield on the 31 May...

Edinburgh Marathon Festival
24 & 25 May

Take the tram to the Princes Street stop to cheer for runners in Edinburgh’s Marathon Festival, which takes place at the end of May, and is always an incredible atmosphere. Brave participants in the full and half Marathons will start at Potterrow, crossing the Royal Mile before running down the Mound and through Princes Street Gardens, before the route turns towards Portobello and the finish line in Musselburgh.

Tram services will not be affected by this event, but we anticipate a very busy weekend in the city, so please make sure you plan your travel accordingly!

Robbie Williams
31 May

Let (Robbie) Entertain You this May – the Better Man is Back For Good at Murrayfield this month. Don’t do Something Stupid - take the tram and you’ll have No Regrets!

We could honestly do this all day. Also – seriously, has anyone managed to convince him to bring Gary Barlow out?

If you’re heading to the gig, buy your tickets in advance from Edinburgh Ticket – or Tap On and Tap Off the tram with your contactless-enabled card or device for maximum convenience. We’ll expect the trams to be very busy on this day, so please do be Angels!
