Edinburgh has transformed into a winter wonderland, and with some of the best seasonal attractions across town and beyond, we’ve got you covered over the festive period!
The magnificent UNIQLO Ice Rink, as well as the ‘coolest’ place in the city for a drink, the Polar Ice Bar, are located on George Street, and the world-famous Christmas markets can be found on Princes Street – all of them within walking distance of the tram stops at St Andrew Square and Princes Street.
If you’re driving from beyond Edinburgh, why not leave your car at Ingliston Park & Ride before completing your journey by tram? The Ingliston Park & Ride facility has over a thousand free spaces available and is just off the A8 Airport Junction.
Throughout most of December, trams will run as normal; however, here is a breakdown of our festive timetable, plus some extra information. You can also follow us on X (Twitter) for any live service updates.
- Christmas Eve, Tuesday, 24 December 2024: Normal weekday service, with trams from every seven minutes to help you buy those last-minute presents.
- Christmas Day, Wednesday, 25 December 2024: Sorry, no services will operate on this day. We’ll also be with our loved ones!
- Boxing Day, Thursday, 26 December 2024: Normal weekday service with trams from every seven minutes. Off to the Boxing Day sales? Use Princes Street, St Andrew Square or Picardy Place for city centre retail.
- Friday, 27 December - Monday, 30 December: Normal service as per the timetable here. Want to try something different while you’re off? Get access to money-saving discounts at non-seasonal top attractions by purchasing your tram tickets through our official ticketing website. Further information here.
- Monday, 30 December 2024: Normal weekday service.
- New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, 31 December 2024: Trams will continue to operate a full route as normal.
- After midnight, all trams will be FREE so that you can go home safely when you call it a night! From 1200 until 2am, trams will operate from up to every 10 minutes, then a frequent service until the early hours of New Year's Day.
- Wednesday, 01 January 2025: Normal weekday service.
