Get ready for seven days filled to the brim with good music as Summer Sessions returns to the Scottish capital at the Royal Highland Showgrounds from Friday 21 to Saturday 29 August.
Expect performances from Biffy Clyro, The Cure, Florence + The Machine, Lorde, Deftones, The Prodigy, and for the first time, a new family-friendly festival, Heather on the Hill.
If you’re heading to any of the shows, the closest tram stop is Ingliston Park & Ride, which is a 15–20-minute walk to the Showgrounds. Safe walking routes from the tram stop to the venue will be sign-posted to help you make your way there, and we’ll have staff on the platform to help with any queries.
Extra trams will be on after each gig, but please note, trams are currently still running a part route from Edinburgh Airport – West End only due to the road closure on Princes Street. Ticket acceptance is still in place on Lothian services 16 and 25 between West End to Leith and Newhaven.

“No matter how you are making your way to the Showgrounds, we’re urging concertgoers to plan their travel in advance as public transport services and roads are set to be busy due to the gigs, festival season, and diversions and road closures that are in place.”
There are a number of ways to pay for your tram travel. Purchase discounted tickets in advance online via the Edinburgh Ticket website, buy tickets on tram platforms at TVMs, or simply Tap On and Tap Off with a contactless card or device and make use of contactless daily capping.
If you’re under 22, over 60, or registered blind and hold a Scottish National Entitlement Card issued by the City of Edinburgh Council, you can travel for free on trams. But please remember to Tap On before you board.
