Edinburgh Trams is set to commemorate Remembrance Sunday (Sunday 9 November) and Armistice Day (Tuesday 11 November) to pay tribute to those who fell in World War I, World War II, and in conflicts in recent years.

To remember the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces, Edinburgh Trams will be offering free tram travel for veterans and serving members of the Army, Navy, and Air Force on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. They will be able to take up this offer by simply showing their military ID or wearing their uniform on each day.

Leading up to the day of remembrance and reflection, members from Poppy Scotland will be located at our Haymarket tram stop selling poppies, should you wish to purchase one. We’ll also have poppies on display in tram windows.

As a further mark of respect, where safe to do so, tram services will stop at 11am to observe a two-minute silence on both days.

Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams Managing Director, said:

“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.

“As a former veteran myself, and a number of our colleagues being former service men and women, we are passionate about paying tribute to all of those who have paid the ultimate price throughout the years while serving our country.”

The tram operator will also be donating £500 to the Scottish Poppy Appeal to show their support.
