On Wednesday 12 August, Premier League football returns to the Scottish capital as Newcastle United and Everton are set to play at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium.
Two of English football’s most passionately supported clubs will be stepping up their preparations in anticipation of the 2026/27 Premier League right here in the heart of Edinburgh. And we're on hand to help you glide to the Stadium.
Due to a road closure on Princes Street, trams are currently still running a part route from Edinburgh Airport – West End only. Kick off is at 17:15 hrs but services are likely to be busy so please ensure you plan your journey and make travel arrangements in advance.
If you’re planning on heading in early, turnstiles for Hospitality and the West Fan Village opens at 15:15 hrs and the Stadium bowl will open at 15:45 hrs.
The tram stops right outside Murrayfield Stadium, and visitors can catch connections from outside of the city from Ingliston Park & Ride, which has thousands of free parking spaces, or from train stations at Edinburgh Gateway, Edinburgh Park Station, and Haymarket.
A gateline will be in use at Murrayfield Stadium, so please ensure you have a valid ticket for travelling on the tram. There are a number of ways to pay. Pre-purchase tickets in advance via the Edinburgh Ticket website, buy tickets on tram platforms via the TVMs, or Tap On and Tap Off with a contactless card or device and make use of contactless daily capping.

“Edinburgh is thrilled to be hosting two English Premier League teams in the Scottish capital. As this is the city’s busiest time of year, and a number of diversions and road closures are in place, we are encouraging visitors who are travelling to the game to plan their journey in advance.
