November is here, and with that comes the start of the city’s winter season and (dare we say it...?) Christmas events. But don’t worry, even if you’re not in the festive spirit quite yet, there are still events taking place across the city to get you out of the house during the crisp and cold month of November.

 

From an iconic rugby series to the return of one of the UK’s most popular Christmas markets, there’s something for everyone. Wrap up warm and glide to events across Edinburgh this month with Edinburgh Trams.


Quilter Nations Series

Quilter Nations Series – Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium (1, 8, 16, 23 November). Rugby fans are in for a treat this month as Scotland take on international rivals throughout November at Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium. Previously known as the Autumn Nations Series, the tests will see the Scotland team take on USA (1 November), New Zealand (8 November), Argentina (16 November), and Tonga (23 November).

Tickets to the New Zealand match are sold out, but there are some available to buy for the remaining three games. With a tram stop directly outside the stadium, there’s no better way to than to ‘try’ the tram to this year’s Quilter Nations Series!

Theatre and film highlights

Edinburgh Short Film Festival – Edinburgh Filmhouse (7-16 November). The Snow Queen – Festival Theatre (27 November – 7 December). Enter a world of icy magic with the glittering production inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale. This breathtaking production is perfect for the whole family and will really get you into the festive spirit of the winter season.

Immersive experiences

Edinburgh Zoo’s Giant Lanterns – Edinburgh Zoo (14 November – 22 February). The spectacular family favourite is back with a splash for the first time since 2019. Be prepared for the night to be illuminated with hundreds of hand-crafted creations with an underwater twist. This year promises to be bigger and brighter than ever.

Beyond Monet & Beyond Van Gogh – Royal Highland Centre (29 November – 4 January). Experience the world of art like never before at this immersive art exhibition. Christmas magic

Edinburgh’s Christmas – various venues (15 November – 4 January). Get into the festive spirit as Edinburgh’s Christmas turns the city into a winter wonderland of markets, rides, food stalls, twinkling lights, and much more! With events and attractions happening across the city, you’ll be spoilt for choice of things to do.

Castle of Light – Edinburgh Castle (21 November – 4 January). See the iconic Edinuburgh Castle in a whole new light as the Castle of Light returns for its sixth year.
