September can sometimes feel like a quieter month with the departure of Edinburgh’s festival season – but with trams running a full route again and back serving the city centre, Leith and Newhaven, there’s a whole host of events across the city which you can once more glide to on the tram.

Scottish events
Tabletop Scotland – Royal Highland Centre – Friday 4 - Sunday 6 September
Tabletop Scotland, the board game, card game, and roleplaying game convention, is back again this year. The convention, which is open to everyone, whether you’re an avid gaming enthusiast or new to the world of tabletop games, you’ll have plenty to keep you occupied as there is an abundance of games and people to play them with.
Signposted walking routes are in place at Ingliston Park & Ride to help you make your way from the tram stop.

Edinburgh Riding of the Marches – The Royal Mile – Sunday 13 September
Edinburgh’s Royal Mile will celebrate the annual re-enactment of the ancient custom of the Edinburgh Riding of the Marches. 280 horses will ride up the Mile, led by Edinburgh’s Lord Provost, pipe bands and flag bearers. This historic event is free to spectate and is one not to be missed as the roots of the Marches dates back to as early as the 16th century!

Kiltwalk – Holyrood Park to Murrayfield Stadium – Sunday 13 September
The Kiltwalk is Scotland’s largest mass participation walking event that takes place in Scottish cities across the country. In Edinburgh, walkers can take on The Mighty Stride (21 miles), The Big Stroll (11.3 miles), or The Wee Wander (4.5 miles) to raise money for a chosen Scottish charity. Doors Open Day – across the city – Saturday 26 - Sunday 27 September
Back again for another year, Doors Open Day sees businesses across Edinburgh open up their doors for the public to explore buildings and places that are not usually open to them. Make the most of this unique opportunity to get behind-the-scenes access of some of the city’s iconic locations and businesses.

With trams running back to Leith, there’s no better excuse to take a visit to the Edinburgh Playhouse. Picardy Place tram stop is your closest stop – we can take you to right outside the front doors! Hibernian v Hearts of Midlothian – Easter Road – Thursday 3 September
Edinburgh football fans are in for a treat as the first Edinburgh Derby of the 2026/27 campaign is taking place this month at Easter Road Stadium. Just a short walk from McDonald Road or Balfour Street, the stadium is easily accessible from either tram stop.
