As Edinburgh transforms itself into a magical winter wonderland in the lead-up to Christmas, the city’s trams are on hand to offer hassle-free travel throughout the festive season.

From today, November 17, West Princes Street Gardens is home to a ‘Festive Family Funfair’ and nearby a selection of stalls will be serving up a host of traditional recipes and drinks. With Princes Street tram stop just a short walk away, taking the tram to and from the Christmas Market couldn’t be easier or more convenient.

What’s more, families and groups heading into town together can benefit from the operator’s popular ‘Family Day Tripper’ ticket, which allows unlimited tram travel for two adults and up to three children for just £8.

This ticket and other money-saving options can be purchased from edinburghticket.com and printed out or downloaded onto a smart device, to show the trams’ friendly staff.

Catriona Taylor, Edinburgh Trams’ Customer Experience Manager, commented:

From delicious scents, lights, and world-class entertainment, Edinburgh city centre has always attracted thousands of Christmas lovers over the winter.

With trams from every seven minutes between the airport and Newhaven, serving many other key locations - including Santa’s Stories and the Ice Rink near St Andrew Square and George Street - they offer a safe and reliable way to make the most of the festive programme.

Those travelling from beyond the city can leave their cars at Ingliston Park & Ride, which has plenty of free parking spaces and its own tram stop, before completing their journey by tram.
