Edinburgh’s tram network is boosting service frequencies from tomorrow (Wednesday 4 January) in response to growing demand from customers.

The operators carried out a recent successful trial when extra trams were introduced during peak periods.

General Manager, Lea Harrison said: “It is clear that our customers want more services, more often throughout the day so we’ll now be running an extra two trams each hour from Monday to Saturday and an additional three trams every hour on Sundays.”

The enhanced service pattern will see trams running from every 7 minutes during the daytime throughout the week and from every 10 minutes after 7pm in the evenings.

Mr Harrison added: “The trial went extremely well and certainly supported customer feedback which suggested people wanted to see even better frequencies. Our customer satisfaction ratings are exceptionally high and we want to keep them that way so we’ll always look to make improvements where we can.”
