Edinburgh Trams has joined forces with organisers of an international volleyball tournament to champion ‘green’ travel for competitors.

Players have been offered free tram journeys from the airport to their accommodation, so they can travel more sustainably during the Small Countries Association Men’s Championship, which kicked off at Oriam in Edinburgh on Thursday, June 15.

Lea Harrison, the operator’s Managing Director, commented:

We’re delighted to work with Scottish Volleyball to raise awareness of how public transport can significantly help to minimise carbon emissions across the city and its surroundings.

Here at Edinburgh Trams, we continue to work towards making Edinburgh a healthier, greener, and more attractive place by providing a quick, easy and value-for-money travel option.

Rowan Johnston, Scottish Volleyball’s Tournament Director, said:

It has been incredibly exciting to be working with Edinburgh Trams to provide transport for this international volleyball event and to champion environmentally friendly and reliable travel in Edinburgh.

The tram operator already plays a significant role in reducing reliance on more carbon intense forms of transport by offering environmentally friendly travel for tens of thousands of people every day.

Now that we have successfully launched services to Leith, Ocean Terminal, and Newhaven, the trams will be able to further meet the demands of Edinburgh's residents, tourists, and other visitors while encouraging them to adopt a much greener lifestyle, Lea added.
