Looking for some inspiration for activities this Easter, well look no further.  We’ve complied our top 5 family fun things to do in Edinburgh, and even better, you can take the tram to join in on all the action – easy!

Easter Puppet Show at Edinburgh Castle

There’s already so many reasons to visit Edinburgh Castle, but this Easter, Alba puppets has just given us another one. Join the puppets at Edinburgh Castle to see what mischief they get up to in the historic grounds of Edinburgh’s beloved landmark. No extra ticket needed; the Easter Puppet Show is included in the price of your admission ticket to the castle.

Where to get off: Princes Street, then a short walk up The Mound to Castlehill.

Robot Exhibition at the National Museum

Take a walk through the history (and the future) of robots at the National Museum. From celebrity on screen robots to the very first manmade machines, it’s an exhibition that is not to be missed. Book your ticket at the museum on the day or online before you leave.

Where to get off: Princes Street, then a 10-15 minute walk to the Museum on Chambers Street.

Edinburgh Science Festival

A family favourite, this annual science spectacular dots itself around the city making it accessible for anyone to enjoy. Their City Art Centre venue, based on Market Street, has a plethora of amazing things happening. Make your own slime, step into the role of the nature conservationist or transport yourself to another realm with their virtual reality headsets, doesn’t get much more fun than that! Some pre-booking may be required – so get organised!

Where to get off: St Andrew Square, then head through Waverly Station for some train spotting and follow the exit for Market Street.

Picnic in Princes Street Gardens

Green space, the beautiful Ross Fountain and a playpark, is there a better spot for an Easter picnic? Go equipped with a blanket, plenty of food and some painted eggs to roll down the hills in the gardens. Fingers crossed the weather co-operates, but bring an umbrella, just in case!

Where to get off: Princes Street and you’re there!

Dumbo at Odeon Lothian Road

Here’s a great one for the rainy days, grab the popcorn and head to the Odeon at Lothian Road for some indoor fun – and what could be more fun than Disney? Especially their latest live action remake of the classic Dumbo. But don’t worry, you don’t need to fly there, simply hop on the tram!

Where to get off: West End, and then it’s a short walk to Lothian Road.

Park your car for free at Ingliston Park & Ride and glide to all of the above on board the tram. Even better, our Family DAYticket allows unlimited travel on the day of purchase on both tram and Lothian Buses for just £8.50 (up to 2 adults and 3 children). If this sounds like the ticket for you, download the Transport for Edinburgh m-ticket app to buy in advance or simply purchase at the tram stop ticket machine.

Happy Easter from everyone here at Edinburgh Trams!
