Visitors to a host of Yuletide attractions in Edinburgh can be sure of swift and convenient travel to and from venues thanks to the city’s award-winning trams.
The renowned Christmas Markets have turned Princes Street Gardens into a winter wonderland, and with the tram stop nearby, getting to there couldn’t be easier. Adding to the festive fun, the ice rink has also returned to the west end of George Street, which is just a short walk from West End tram stop, and further details about the attraction can be found here.
Throughout the festive period, tram services will continue to operate from every seven minutes every day except Christmas Day. The only changes to services will be from lunchtime on 30th December until around 10am on 1st January when trams will terminate at West End stop due to road closures as part of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay street party. No trams will run from St Andrew Square or Princes Street stops during this time.
The company will again be running free trams between midnight and 5am on 1st January, with more details and the full timetable to be announced soon.
Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams Managing Director, commented:
Over the festive season, Edinburgh city centre becomes a must-go destination for local residents and tourists looking for some festive cheer.
By running a frequent and reliable service across the city, we aim to help visitors to make the most of the city’s Christmas attractions without the hassle of getting stuck in traffic, or the stress and expense of finding a parking space.
A full festive timetable, which includes free, all-night services for Hogmanay will be as follows:
