Edinburgh’s popular tram network is gearing up for the relaunch of evening and early morning services this weekend following the successful completion of engineering works.

On Saturday, November 11, a full tram timetable will resume following a scheduled maintenance programme that’s set to ensure the continued safe and reliable running of the tramway.

Now Edinburgh Trams is turning its attention to helping customers make the most of the festive season and the many events taking place across the city.

Lea Harrison, the tram operator’s Managing Director, commented:

We always aimed to carry out this vital upgrading ahead of what is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year, and thanks to the entire Edinburgh Trams team, we have been able to complete an incredible amount of works in such a short space of time.

Over recent weeks, works to replace tracks and points at York Place and Shandwick Place have progressed well in the lead-up to the city’s Christmas events, alongside complex maintenance checks to the overhead line equipment on some sections of the route.

Delivering a premium service requires a commitment to ensuring infrastructure meets the highest safety standards, and we would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding over the past few weeks while these essential works were taking place, Lea added.

Once normal evening and morning tram services resume, from Saturday, a full timetable will operate between the airport and the city centre.

Customers are urged to check the Edinburgh Trams website here, as well as X and Facebook, for further service updates.
