To allow Transport for Edinburgh to continue to offer the lowest prices for unlimited travel on bus and tram, the validity of Student Ridacards is matched to that of the student matriculation card which is shown at the time of purchase. This ensures that the product is only available to those who are eligible.
Consequently Student Ridacards purchased with a 2013/2014 matriculation card will expire on 30 November 2014. This will also be the case for secondary school pupils who left school in summer 2014. Holders of Direct Debit Student Ridacards which are due to expire should visit a Travelshop with their valid matriculation card to be issued with a replacement smartcard. If you are no longer eligible for a Student Ridacard, then you must cancel the Direct Debit instruction, which can be done by calling 0131 348 7269. Otherwise, payments will continue to be collected until instructed to stop.
If you are continuing your studies after the card expiry, please visit one of the Transport for Edinburgh Travelshops, with your new matriculation card, where staff will update your details and ensure that your Student Ridacard remains valid.
If you are unsure about the validity of your Ridacard please visit a Travelshop, with both your Ridacard and your student matriculation card.
