Following a successful and popular trial on three of its trams, Edinburgh Trams is delighted to be making travel even more appealing with the addition of Wi-Fi to every vehicle in its fleet.

The Wi-Fi, available on all 27 trams, is free to use for all passengers onboard with a Wi-Fi enabled device.

Ian Craig, Chief Executive, Transport for Edinburgh said:

This is a further step towards making the entire Transport for Edinburgh fleet Wi-Fi enabled, something that passengers really wanted to see. Our customers can now check their social media feeds and emails or find out when they can catch their connecting bus, while on the move, for free.

With all trams now successfully kitted out we have reached a major milestone in our project. We are looking forward to getting the whole bus fleet completed by the end of 2014.

Last year Transport for Edinburgh engaged with The City of Edinburgh Council and their Connected Capital Programme and following on from a successful bid process secured funding of up to £2m to put Free Wi-Fi on all Transport for Edinburgh vehicles.

Trams are fitted with the latest mobile hotspot technology offering a fast and robust 4G connection whilst on the move.

Look out for the “Free Tram Wi-Fi” hotspot when you get on board. Wi-Fi service is subject to terms and conditions, which are available when you connect.
