Results published today (10 June) show continuing growth for the city’s tramway. Revenue grew by 22 per cent in 2018 with the total number of customer journeys increasing by 10 per cent to 7.3 million.
The maturing organisation was recently given responsibility for maintaining vehicles and infrastructure by the City of Edinburgh Council following a long-planned review of the Operating Agreement. Under the new arrangement, Edinburgh Trams has paid access and maintenance fees for the use of trams, infrastructure, track and depot. Edinburgh Trams is now able to improve value for money by directly managing contracts for vehicles, infrastructure and systems.
Edinburgh Trams is an award winning operator that has just celebrated its fifth birthday. With industry leading levels of customer satisfaction, reliability and punctuality, they continue to support the City of Edinburgh Council on delivering Trams to Newhaven.
