We are celebrating our busiest ever month after recording over half a million customer journeys during the city’s festival season worth over £1 million in revenue.

At peak times, additional services were introduced between the airport and the West End to keep up with demand, whilst overnight trams on Saturdays proved a particular hit with thousands of festival-goers.

Dean Anderson, Edinburgh Trams Customer Experience Manager, explained:

We decided to run the night trams this year after hearing from customers who wanted an easy way to get home or back to their hotel after the late-night events that have become such a feature of the festival.

“Thousands of festival fans took advantage of the additional services and they’ve certainly contributed to a bumper month that’s seen customer numbers 12 per cent higher than during the same period last year.”

Recently named as the UK’s number one transport operator for customer satisfaction, Edinburgh Trams has also recorded a significant increase in revenue during the festival, up 14 per cent on August 2016. Alongside the introduction of extra services, the rise has been driven by the launch of an innovative travel deal for visitors.

Available for £8.50 (or £4.50 for children) from a dedicated website,  www.edinburghticket.com, it offers the same value for money and flexibility of an open-ended airport return ticket alongside great savings at many of the city’s top attractions.

“The arrival of our Edinburgh Ticket was timed to coincide with the festival season and it’s proved hugely popular with visitors drawn to the city by a packed programme of events and performances,” Dean added.
