“We’re really getting into the festival spirit as excitement builds ahead of the Edinburgh International Festival opening event. Our specially ‘wrapped’ tram that’s promoting a packed festival programme is already turning heads and we’re also looking forward to the launch of our all-night services immediately after Bloom comes to a close on Saturday night.”
During August, trams will run through the night at weekends, with services running approximately every 30 minutes between midnight on Saturday night and 5.30am on Sunday morning. Trams will also operate tram until approximately 2am on the opening night (1am from the City Centre) to help people get home from the event.”
“These additional trams will help festival-goers to make the most of the late-night performances that are such a feature of the city’s world-renowned showcase for the arts,” Dean added.
The entrance to the venue will be located at the east end of George Street which is most easily accessed from the Princes Street tram stop. Immediately prior to and during the event, St Andrew Square tram stop will be closed to allow the event to take place however trams will continue to operate to/from York Place.
