This weekend, on Sunday 31 May, the Edinburgh Trams team will be celebrating our birthday as we have officially been gliding across Edinburgh for 12 years!
From the daily commute to the first stop on the way to the airport, and everything in between, the multi-award-winning tramway has continued to help locals and visitors alike glide across the city and beyond.
This past year alone, Edinburgh Trams recorded 12.5 million customer journeys in 2025 (growth of 3.3%!), as well as announcing last week that 2.4m customer journeys were made on the first year on Tap On, Tap Off (TOTO) – Scotland’s first multi-modal, multi-operator Account-Based Ticketing Solution.
2025 also saw four of the five busiest days ever recorded on the network, which took place in August thanks to the world-famous Festival season and Oasis taking the stage at Murrayfield Stadium in August. A new all-time daily record of 77,000 customer journeys was also recorded.
