As the Festival season kicks off in Edinburgh, we’re reminding customers that it is not possible to carry bikes on trams during the period, which runs from 1-24 August this year.
While we are proud to normally offer this service at the discretion of our on-tram colleagues during off-peak times, the tram network gets significantly busier during the month as the city welcomes artists and visitors from across the globe.
This rule comes into place every year to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers on trams during one of our busiest periods. Even if there does appear to be space when you board, trams will get significantly busier as they travel through the city centre, so we’d ask customers not to try and board the trams with their bikes at all, and to respect our on-board colleagues on this matter.
Our full conditions of carriage can be found here.
Cycle parking can be found across the network, including near the tram stops at Ingliston Park & Ride, Edinburgh Park Station, the city centre, and down into Leith.
