With the Royal Highland Show getting underway tomorrow (Thursday, June 22nd) and running through until Sunday evening, visitors are being urged to ‘jump’ on a tram to take the strain off of the roads.

The show’s south entrance is just a short 10-minute walk from the Ingliston Park & Ride tram stop, and signs have been put in place this week to help guide visitors along the quickest route.

Not only that, this will also be a popular weekend for air travellers and trams can help with that too. Edinburgh Trams will be running fast and frequent services between the Edinburgh Airport and the city centre for the duration of the show.

Dean Anderson, Customer Experience Manager at Edinburgh Trams, explained:

“We’re gearing up for what promises to be one of the busiest weekends of the year, and we’ve been working closely with show organisers to ensure visitors enjoy a fantastic day out.

“Whilst one of our trams has been wrapped in specially commissioned, eye-catching artwork to promote the event, we’ve also teamed up with organisers to offer discounted travel for show ticket holders.

“Over the coming days we’re also running a ‘Tram Bingo Challenge’ to keep younger visitors entertained during their journeys to and from the showground, with an iPad up for grabs.

“With journey times of around 30 minutes between Edinburgh Airport, Ingliston Park & Ride and the city centre, services every seven minutes over the weekend and adult return tickets for just £3.20, let the tram take the strain.”

To join in the fun of the Tram Bingo Challenge, pick up a card on board the tram or at the Royal Highland Educational Trust’s Discovery Centre on Avenue Q at the show. Tram tickets can also be bought in advance by visiting the Royal Highland Show website or on the day from the tram stop ticket machines.
