Will my ticket, smartcard or m-ticket still be checked?

We have introduced ‘touchless’ ticket checking. Ticket checks may take place on tram stops as well as on trams. Please clearly present your ticket, smartcard or m-ticket to the Ticket Inspector.

We recommend using m-tickets or smartcards to reduce surface contact with ticket machines. Remember, all tickets, smartcard and m-tickets must be purchased, validated or activated before boarding the tram otherwise the £10 on board fare will apply.

What should I do if I feel unwell?

Stay at home if you or anyone in your household is experiencing coronavirus symptoms (new continuous dry cough, fever or the loss of or a change in your sense of smell or taste) or if you are self-isolating or you are shielding.

If you become unwell during your tram journey, you should disembark the tram at the next stop and follow Government advice. Be careful not to touch your face and remember to cover your mouth with a tissue or your elbow when coughing or sneezing.

Is it safe for me to travel by tram?

Only travel if your journey is essential, for example, for work or shopping. However, if you do have to use public transport, we are doing all we can to follow the Governments guidance to keep our customers and colleagues safe.

How often are trams operating?

Trams are now running from every 7 minutes between the Airport and City centre throughout the daytime and every 10 minutes in the early morning and late evening.

To help keep our little tram fans busy whilst schools are off, we have compiled our very own children’s activity pack titled ‘All Aboard with Tilly the Tram!’

Following from the success of our children’s book ‘Tilly the Tram’s Noisy Birthday’, families can now download some fun colouring in, word search and tram trivia exercises to do at home with the kids.

To celebrate International Women's Day 2020, we've brought together the three female heads who keep Edinburgh Trams on track.

When you think of rail what is the first thing you think of? Thomas the Tank Engine? Tracks? High-speed? First-class engineering? Now think of the people who make our railways a reality – if you imagine a Tram Driver, Rail Technician or Depot Supervisor what do you think of? Let us guess… middle aged male?
