The Edinburgh Trams ‘red eye’ trial has now completed its six week run and the service is now back running to normal service.

Ian Craig, Chief Executive, Transport for Edinburgh said:

The ‘Red Eye’ trial was a key step in our plan to optimise the tram service and give passengers the flexibility to travel when they need to.  I am delighted to report that all our extra services were completed as planned and with over 1000 additional passenger journeys generated this confirms there is real demand for an expanded service.    We will now review the numbers relating to the trial and give full consideration as to whether we add this as a permanent extension of the service.

The red eye trial was carried out from the 19 October - 29 November inclusive.  It was hoped that the trial would help passengers make earlier flight times and improve the service provided at Ingliston Park and Ride.

Edinburgh Trams would like to thank everyone who tried the early morning trial.
