citysmart
A citysmart card is the convenient, top-up ticket for tram and Lothian bus single journeys.
Available to buy online or from any of our TravelHubs, the citysmart card gives you the freedom to top-up as you go. You can top-up on any Lothian bus or visit one of our TravelHubs to top-up by 10, 20 or 50 journeys at one time. You can also share a citysmart card with whoever you want - friends, family or colleagues.
How to travel with citysmart
At a tram stop: Hold your citysmart card against one of the smartcard validator machines on the tram stop platform. A journey has been deducted when a green tick appears on the screen. You must board within 30 minutes of validation.
On bus: Hold your citysmart card against the card reader on the ticket machine and ask the driver to deduct a journey - a ticket will be printed which you should keep.
Where you can travel with citysmart
Tram: citysmart journeys can be used for travel on Edinburgh Trams to or from all stops except Edinburgh Airport. Only one customer can use a citysmart card at any one time on Edinburgh Trams.
Bus: citysmart journeys can be used on all Lothian Buses services except Airlink, NightBus, service 98 and outwith Zone A & B on Lothian Country Buses and East Coast Buses.

TravelHubs: Pop into Shandwick Place or Waverley TravelHubs where we will be happy to add 5, 10, 20 or 50 journeys to your card.
