Edinburgh Trams, Gyle Shopping Centre and the hardworking administrative elves at the North Pole have teamed up for another year to run the Edinburgh Trams Gyle Santa Express.
Despite it being his busiest time of year Santa has taken time out of his hectic schedule and will be aboard Edinburgh Trams on Sunday 1 December and Monday 2 December on selected bookable journeys. Proceeds from tickets sold will be donated to Edinburgh Trams’ Charity of the Year, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, with one journey specially reserved for the children and families who have a special connection with the children’s charity.
Santa Claus said:
“I’m looking forward to getting off my sleigh and letting Edinburgh Trams do the driving whilst I meet all the boys and girls and hear about what they are doing for Christmas and gather their present lists. With my special Gyle Santa Express taking place on 1 and 2 December there’s also plenty of time for the grownups to make sure they’re on the Nice List, there’s room for everyone!”
Lea Harrison, Managing Director, Edinburgh Trams said:
“Santa and trams is a magical combination, especially for those with transport daft little ones. The added bonus is that it’s for a great cause with Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity benefitting from some festive fun.”
Andrew Cronie, Gyle Centre Manager commented:
“We are delighted to have teamed up with Edinburgh Trams for not 1 but 2 Santa trams days this year, building on a great partnership that will once again bring joy to hundreds and raise money for a great cause in Edinburgh’s children hospital and promote our fantastic grotto situated at Gyle Shopping Centre! We wish you all a fantastic Christmas and look forward to you stopping by.”
Roslyn Neely, CEO of Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity, said:
“Christmas is a very special time of year and we work hard to make sure that children, young people and their families using the hospital during this time don’t have to miss out on the wonder and joy of the festive season. This is a lovely gesture by Edinburgh Trams and we would like to say an enormous thank you to them – and Santa - for helping to make Christmas magical with such a fun, family activity.”
Those lucky enough to bag the limited tickets will get to spend some time with Santa on the journey into the city centre and will receive an Edinburgh Trams’ goodie bag and selection box, tickets for this unique event can be booked through Event Brite.
For those missing-out on this special festive journey, don’t worry… Santa will also be at Gyle Shopping Centre from 10am on Friday 22 November (for full dates and times see www.gyleshopping.com)!
