From Monday (20 July), Edinburgh Trams will be adhering to social distancing of one-metre on services.
As the country enters Phase 3, the latest guidance issued by the Scottish Government allows transport operators to reduce social distancing providing risk assessments are reviewed to ensure sufficient mitigation is in place.
The organisation has listened to customer feedback and worked with colleagues and the Trade Union and agreed the operator of Edinburgh’s tramway is able to move safely to one-metre social distancing.
Measures taken include wearing of face coverings, enhanced cleaning regime, opening of windows and automatic opening of doors to increase airflow and touchless ticket checking on tram stops.
However, two-metres remains the preferred option. And, where impossible to maintain one-metre distancing, avoid physical contact and face away from others, keep the time you spend within one-metres of others as short as possible.
