For a fourth year running Edinburgh Trams is partnering up with Pedal for Scotland supporting cyclists as they participate in either the Classic Challenge from Glasgow to Edinburgh or the Big Belter from Glasgow to Edinburgh and back again.

The event which, taking place on the 8 September is organised by Cycling Scotland and attracts over 10,000 riders, and the tram offers many of them a great way to get to and from the Event Village, just a short distance from the Ingliston Park & Ride stop.

Edinburgh Trams will be offering those who have pre-purchased a ‘Tram Transport’ wristband a place on additional non-stop services between Haymarket and Ingliston Park & Ride.

From 4am to 6.30am we’ll be running extra trams exclusively for ‘Tram Transport’ wristband holders taking part in the event, with non-stop services approximately every 20 minutes from Haymarket to Ingliston Park & Ride.

A dedicated return service, from Ingliston Park & Ride to Haymarket will operate in the afternoon between 11am and 6pm, and participants will need to book their tram transport in advance through Pedal for Scotland’s website.

Our regular services will be running as usual, but only two bikes are allowed per tram on regular services and cyclists will need to buy a ticket before boarding.

Anyone who just wants to cheer on friends or family as they pass the finish line can also get there by tram, with fast, frequent services to Ingliston Park & Ride from locations such as the city centre and Edinburgh Airport.

Sarah Singh, Operations Manager, Edinburgh Trams said:

“We’re delighted to be once again partnering up with Pedal for Scotland, which raises huge amounts for the STV Children’s Appeal.  We wish everyone taking part the best of luck and Edinburgh Trams will be there to take you home so you can rest your tired legs after.”
