Transport for Edinburgh

With a dynamic, highly educated population and a strong economic and cultural presence, Edinburgh deserves first class public transportation.

With the arrival of Edinburgh’s first modern tram service in 2014, a new combined transport group for the city has been created.

Care has been taken to make bus and tram travel as integrated as possible. Ridacard holders have the additional benefit of being able to travel on tram as well as bus. Web and app development means that passengers can plan their journeys across both modes of transport - creating seamless routes for travel, wherever they live in the city.

Edinburgh is the historic and beautiful capital city of Scotland. It has a population of 482,624 (c.2012) with a larger urban zone population of over 800,000. The Old and New towns are designated UNESCO world heritage sites and Edinburgh was the world’s first city of Literature in 2004. Every August, the city hosts the world’s largest arts festival and is the home of Hogmanay, with the largest street party in the world.
